Cryogenics serving medicine

Cryogenics refers to the production of very low temperatures (below −150 °C) and enables major scientific and technological advances.

It offers many advantages, the main one being the ability to preserve the quality and performance of certain elements when they are cooled to cryogenic temperatures. In this context, cryogenics has become highly popular in the medical industry in recent years.

Several medical instruments – such as NMR cryostats, magnetoencephalography systems, medical research platforms, or cancer treatments (for example using proton therapy) – require extremely high measurement precision and sensitivity to operate optimally. Cryogenic cooling makes it possible to reach this level of precision.

Absolut System’s expertise for medical applications

For over 10 years, Absolut System has leveraged its cryogenic expertise to deliver innovative, tailor‑made cryogenic solutions for medical imaging applications (NMR, proton therapy, and magnetoencephalography).

Our engineers are experts in helium management. From feasibility studies through to custom manufacturing, we design complete cryogenic systems adapted to your medical equipment.

Helium management serving medical imaging

Our teams have demonstrated their helium‑management expertise through an innovative project.

Absolut System installed and commissioned a closed‑loop liquid helium system (purification and liquefaction) for the magnetoencephalography system on the neuroimaging platform at the Centre d’Exploration et de Recherche Médicales par Émission de Positons (CERMEP) in Lyon‑Bron.
